The original gay men's chorus in Brighton and Hove
We hope you’ve enjoyed our Advent Calendar videos. Please consider making a donation via our website or our Facebook page. Thank you for your support.
Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus is a space where people can celebrate music, celebrate their sexuality, enjoy the fellowship of other like-minded people and contribute to the local communities of which we are a part.
The Chorus is a registered charity with three guiding principles, our “Three S’s”:
The celebration of life and music through male voice harmony
Using singing to develop social bonds that help people to feel connected in a sometimes lonely world
To be there for each other – both collectively and individually – when the chips are down, and to be there for the communities in which the chorus operates, too
Whilst the members of Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus are all amateur singers, we are privileged to have the services of some of the most talented musical professionals on the south coast. Their musical arrangements are unique to BrightonGMC and form a vast repertoire that covers pop, musical, classic and classical scores.
Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus is always looking for new members – gay, straight or otherwise. All we ask is that you self-identify as male and are LGBTQ-friendly.
We’re a “TTBB” choir, which means we sing mainly in four-part harmony: First Tenor, Second Tenor, Baritone and Bass. We’re currently especially looking for lower (“Bass”) or higher (“First Tenor”) singing voices, but all others are always welcome!
Unlike some other choral groups, we don’t audition.
If you think you might be interested then look out for our New Members’ Evenings which we usually hold at the beginning of a season (in January, May and September) or please feel free to come to any Tuesday evening rehearsal. We rehearse from 7.30-10.00pm every Tuesday evening at the Unitarian Church in New Road.
Please read the information on our Join Us page and then drop our Membership Co-ordinator a quick email to let him know to look out for you.
Want to contribute to our success but don’t want to sing? Can’t self-identify as a gay or gay-friendly man? Don’t have enough time to go to rehearsals? Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus has a number of opportunities for you to get involved.
