This Policy applies as between Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus (the owner and provider of website services, hereinafter referred to as “BrightonGMC”) and you (the User of BrightonGMC’s websites). This Policy applies to our use of any and all Data collected by us in relation to your use of this Website, our online eCommerce shop (including our online donation services), our online ticket sales Website, our online Members’ Lounge Website and the brightonwadconcert.info Website.

  1. Definitions and Interpretation
    1. In this Policy the following terms shall have the following meanings:
      1. ‘Data’ means collectively all information that you submit to the BrightonGMC via the Websites. This definition shall, where applicable, incorporate the definitions provided in the UK General Data Protection Regulation Act of 2020 (GDPR) and Data Protection Act of 2018.
      2. ‘BrightonGMC’ or ‘BGMC’ means Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation no. 1171020, whose postal address is Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 3XG, United Kingdom.
      3. ‘User’ means any third party that accesses the Websites.
      4. ‘Member’ means any person who is a paid-up member of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation as defined in 1.1a above. For the majority of this Policy, ‘Member’ is synonymous with ‘User’.
      5. ‘Websites’ and ‘these websites’ or ‘this website’ means the website that you are currently using (brightongmc.org) and any sub-domains of this site (including, but not limited to, our eCommerce shop (including our online donation services), our online ticket sales Website, our Members’ Lounge and the brightonwadconcert.info site) unless expressly excluded by their own terms and conditions.
  2. Scope of this Policy
    1. This Policy applies only to the actions of BrightonGMC and Users with respect to this Website and our donations page. It does not extend to any websites that can be accessed from this Website including, but not limited to, any links we may provide to external websites, or social media websites.

    1. Without limitation, any of the following personally identifying Data may be collected by these Websites from time to time:
      Data type
      Members
      Shop
      Tickets
      Name
      Contact information such as postal and email addresses and telephone numbers
      Date of birth
      Demographic information such as ethnicity and gender
      Skills that may be of use to the Chorus
      Purchases and invoices
      Payment record
      Information about member’s activity within the Chorus such as attendance, song readiness, sign-ups and other such information
    2. Additionally, the following types of non-personally identifying Data may be collected by these Websites from time to time:
      1. IP address (automatically collected in website statistics)
      2. Web browser type and version (automatically collected in website statistics)
      3. Operating system (automatically collected in website statistics)
      4. A list of URLs starting with a referring site, your activity on this Website, and the site you exit to (automatically collected in website statistics)
  4. Our Use of Data
    1. Any personal Data you submit will be retained by BrightonGMC for as long as needed in accordance with the GDPR provisions.
    2. Unless we are obliged by law to do so, your Data will not be disclosed to third parties other than that which you provide to the third parties who provide our payment processing facilities (Stripe) and our Mailing List (Mailchimp).
    3. All personal Data is stored securely in accordance with the principles of the GDPR.
    4. Any or all of the above Data may be required by us from time to time in order to provide you with the best possible service and experience when using our Websites. Specifically, Data may be used by us for the following reasons:
      1. Internal record keeping
      2. Fulfilment of our obligations to you
      3. Compliance with legal requirements
      4. Transmission of messages to members by email, text and phone relating to activities to which the members are participating or may wish to participate in
      5. Transmission of newsletters and fundraising information relating to the BrightonGMC activities.
  5. Third Party Websites and Services
    1. BrightonGMC may, from time to time, employ the services of other parties for dealing with matters that may include, but are not limited to, payment processing and donations, delivery of purchased items, search engine facilities, advertising and marketing. The providers of such services may have access to certain limited personal Data as provided by Users of this Website.
    2. Any Data used by such parties is used only to the extent required by them to perform the services that BrightonGMC requests. Any use for other purposes is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, BrightonGMC will take all reasonable measures to ensure that any Data that is processed by third parties shall be processed within the terms of this Policy and in accordance with the GDPR.
  6. Links to Other Websites
    1. This Website may, from time to time, provide links to other websites. BrightonGMC has no control over such websites and is in no way responsible for the content thereof. This Policy does not extend to your use of such websites. Users are advised to read the Privacy Policy or statement of other websites prior to using them.
  7. BrightonGMC’s Social Media accounts
    1. BrightonGMC also has a presence on various Social Media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. This policy does not extend to your use of those sites as they have their own Privacy Policies. Users are advised to read the Privacy Policy or statement of those sites prior to using them.
  8. Controlling Use of Your Data
    1. Wherever you are required to submit Data, you will be given options to restrict our use of that Data. This may include:
      1. Use of Data for direct marketing purposes.
  9. Your Right to Withhold Information
    1. You may access public areas of the Website without providing any personally identifying Data specified in 3.1 above at all. If you do not wish for BrightonGMC to access your non-personally identifying Data (see 3.2 above) you may opt out by changing your Browser settings to reject Cookies from the brightongmc.org domain. However, this may adversely effect your experience of our Websites and may prevent you from accessing certain functions (eg, ticket sales and shop purchases).
    2. Access to the Members’ Lounge is limited to current Members of BrightonGMC and requires that we hold Data for the proper and efficient running of the Chorus. Because of this, Members have no right to opt out or withhold such information. Upon termination of Membership, ex-Members may request their Data to be deleted.
  10. Accessing your own Data
    1. You have the right to ask for a copy of any of your personal Data held by BrightonGMC (where such data is held). Please contact it@brightongmc.org in the first instance.
  11. Security
    1. Data security is of great importance to BrightonGMC and to protect your Data we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure Data collected via this Website including, but not limited to, ensuring the use of strong passwords and Two Factor Authentication.
  12. Changes to this Policy
    1. BrightonGMC reserves the right to change this Policy as we may deem necessary from time to time, or as may be required by law, without giving prior notice. Any changes will be immediately posted on the Website and you are deemed to have accepted the terms of the Policy on your first use of the Website following the alterations.
